This Cuban sandwich recipe by Michael Symon combines layers of Swiss cheese, ham, roast pork, and pickles, all pressed between slices of Cuban bread and grilled to perfection. The tangy mustard adds a delightful flavor to this classic sandwich.
Ingredients:
- 1 loaf Cuban bread, cut into 6-inch pieces and split lengthwise
- 1/2 pound thinly sliced Swiss cheese
- 1/2 pound thinly sliced ham
- 1/2 pound thinly sliced roast pork
- Dill pickles, thinly sliced lengthwise
- Yellow mustard
- Butter, for grilling
Instructions:
Layer Swiss cheese on the bottom half of the bread
Top with ham, roast pork, and dill pickles
Spread a generous amount of mustard on the top half of the bread and place it on top of the sandwich
Spread butter on the outside of the sandwich
Heat a skillet or panini press over medium heat
Place the sandwich in the skillet or press and cook until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted, about 5-7 minutes per side
Slice the sandwich diagonally and serve hot
